How do you get a picture to appear as your avatar? Does the pic need to be hosted on the JF site?

no you should be able to upload one

uptop there is the USERCP button

click that....

on the left is a menu.... read it

there is an Edit Avatar link.

Click that....

a page shows up with your current avatar and then a list of default ones to choose from...

below the default list there is a Custom Avatar section....

the directions there are good enough....follow and enjoy.

I'm not seeing a custom section just the run of the mill avatars...
